Atletico is the third team in La Liga, a team that usually plays in the Champions League. And Cacareno? Despite its rich history – it was founded 106 years ago – the club spent only one season higher than the third level.

It's hard to imagine that these two teams would meet in any competition other than the King's Cup. Atletico Madrid has been playing in it since the first round. And already a month ago it had problems with Vic, playing in the sixth level of the league – then the Madrid club won 2-0 after goals in the 81st and 89th minutes. On Thursday it was even worse.
Cacareno scored a goal in the 30th minute to make it 1-0. From that moment on, a desperate defense of the result began, which brought results for a long time. Atletico had a huge advantage, but could not convert it into a goal. This was achieved only in the 83rd minute, when Lenglet scored a goal.
It would seem that nothing was lost and the hosts could still count on extra time. However, their task was made more difficult by Jaime Sancho's second yellow card. From the 85th minute Cacareno played with ten players.
And although the fourth league players held on for a while, the referee's decision to add as many as six minutes finally ruined them. In the second minute of added time, Rodrigo de Paul scored a goal, assisted by Julian Alvarez. Three minutes later, the men switched roles. After a while, the final whistle blew and the hosts left the field. Even though they lost, they were greeted with applause from local fans.
For Cacareno, this is the second consecutive King's Cup in which they compete against a great rival. Last season, this team managed to reach the 1/16 finals. In it they played against… Real Madrid. They also stood up to their neighbors Atletico and lost only 0-1.
