The head of Slovak diplomacy Juraj Blanar talked with Sergey Lavrov at the OSCE meeting

Juraj Blanar talked to Sergei Lavrov, among others. on supplies of Russian oil and gas – according to a statement published by the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Although we are working on diversification, it is important for us to secure supplies at an attractive price and in the necessary quantity,” wrote the head of Slovak diplomacy. True to his words, the Russian side assured that it is able to keep its commitments in this matter.

At the same time, the head of the Slovak Ministry of Economy, Denisa Saková, was conducting parallel talks regarding gas supplies from Russia, meeting with representatives of Gazprom in St. Petersburg. Sakova's visit, which took place on Wednesday afternoon, had not been previously publicly announced by the Slovak Ministry of Economy.

“During the meeting in Malta, Blanar raised the issue of peace, appealing to the Russian side to end hostilities as soon as possible,” wrote the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Blanar also emphasized the need to seek diplomatic solutions in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter. He also noted that “Slovakia supports international peace initiatives, including those proposed by China and Brazil.”

At the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, which preceded the OSCE meeting in Malta, Blanar advocated dialogue with Russia, which had already been postulated by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The head of the cabinet declared that he would go to the Moscow celebrations marking the end of World War II. A delegation of the Slovak parliament will go to Moscow in January.

Next to the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto, the Slovak foreign minister is the representative of a European Union country who most often meets with Lavrov.
