Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak will fly to the United States on Wednesday at the invitation of US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin. He will meet congressmen and visit the soldiers of the 3rd Warsaw Air Defense Missile Brigade. During the two-day visit, the issue of Polish-American military cooperation is to be discussed.
Błaszczak will be visiting the US on October 6-8. According to the Ministry of National Defense, during the visit “topics of Polish-American military cooperation will be discussed, including those concerning the enhancement of military interoperability, the American military presence in Poland, the security situation in Europe and arms purchases”.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense in the USA will also meet congressmen and visit soldiers of the 3rd Warsaw Air Defense Missile Brigade, who are training at Fort Sill to operate the Patriot system. On Friday, the head of the Ministry of National Defense will unveil a commemorative plaque devoted to the Battle of Warsaw in Doylestown and will lay flowers on the graves of Polish officers.
Agreement on the permanent presence of US troops in Poland
The Ministry of National Defense, in the announcement on the website, reminded that on August 15, 2020, an agreement was concluded to strengthen the permanent presence of US troops in Poland, and one of its assumptions was to create in Poland the Forward Command of the 5th US Army Corps, i.e. the unit responsible for commanding the US Armed Forces. located on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance.
On November 20, 2020, the inauguration of the Forward Command of the 5th US Army Corps took place in Poznań.
The Ministry of National Defense emphasizes that this is the only structure of this level of command deployed in Europe and that American ground forces on our continent can be commanded from Poland. The ministry recalled that Major General Adam Joks became the deputy commander of the V Corps of the US Army and since August this year he has been serving as deputy commander. duties at Fort Knox in the US.

NATO has deployed one of the four enhanced Forwad Presence (eFP) battle groups in the vicinity of Orzysz. It was created by the United States with the participation of troops from Romania, Great Britain and Croatia.
Ministry of National Defense on armaments contracts
“Cooperation with the United States also means important military contacts. Several groundbreaking modernization agreements have been concluded in recent years. Thanks to this, the Polish Army will soon be equipped with the most modern military equipment – F-35 aircraft, Patriot missile sets, Himars fire modules and Abrams tanks. The acquired tanks will be directed to the 18th Mechanized Division, which is a very important element in the defense system of our country. Thus, they will strengthen the eastern part of Poland. Together with the tanks, Poland will also receive a logistics and training package. Simulators will also be purchased. The conditions for securing the operation of ABRAMS tanks will be created in military repair plants, “the Ministry of National Defense reports.
