This weekend in Italy promises to be really hot. Thanks to the anticyclone of African origin, the temperature will increase significantly. In some regions, thermometers can show over 40 degrees Celsius. However, the heat does not discourage tourists.

The weekend will pass in Italy under the sign of extremely severe heat brought by the anticyclone from the Sahara called Cerberus. The temperature will reach 40 degrees, and even more will be indicated by thermometers in Sardinia and Sicily. On Sunday, nine cities, including Rome, will be put on heat alert level two.

There are warnings

The orange alert level on a three-point scale means a health risk for the weakest: children, seniors and sick people, but also for those who practice sports and work outdoors. These warnings have been issued for the regions of Bolzano, Florence, Frosinone, Palermo, Perugia, Rieti, Turin and Viterbo.

From Friday, the heat also prevails in Latina in the Lazio region, in Campobasso in the south, in Catania and Messina in Sicily and in Reggio Calabria.

Tourists get tired

An increasingly difficult situation prevails in Rome, where tens of thousands of tourists are staying. In the heat, they stand in long queues to monuments, including the Pantheon, where an admission fee was introduced at the beginning of July.

Every day in the Eternal City, the situation on the streets, where uncollected garbage is piling up, is getting worse. The crisis that has been going on for many weeks, due to the lack of efficient garbage trucks and many negligence, is particularly noticeable at such high temperatures. Experts warn that lying and decaying waste can pose a hygienic and sanitary threat.
