Another wave of extreme heat is starting in Italy. Temperatures in the south of the country are expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius on the second weekend of August.
The heatwave of around 40 degrees will last at least a week. The second weekend of August will probably be the hottest this year, meteorologists predict.
Lorenzo Tedici of iLMeteo.it said that Sicily and Sardinia will see temperatures of around 42-43 degrees Celsius, as will Libya and Tunisia. Even northern Italy could see temperatures of around 40 degrees.
Alerts in the largest cities
It is hot and will be even hotter in cities including Rome, Florence, Modena, Mantua, Bolzano and Bologna, which means that the heat alerts announced by the Ministry of Health will remain in force.
On Monday, the highest temperature was recorded in Florence, where it was 37.7 degrees Celsius.
In the afternoon, heavy rain is also forecast in some places. storms in Sicily, the Alps and the Apennines.
