The Impact of Taylor Swift Concerts on the Polish Economy. Fans Spent Millions of Zlotys in Warsaw

As reported by the portal dlahandlu.plMarek Traczyk from the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce estimated that tourists who came to Warsaw for Taylor Swift's concerts could have spent as much as PLN 190 million in the capital. Interestingly, the analysis of the singer's visit from an economic perspective and its impact on the economy is called “Swiftonomics”.

Taylor Swift's concerts primarily influenced traffic in restaurants

According to dataplace.ai, from August 1 to 4, 2024, traffic around HoReCa points (catering and tourism sectors) in Warsaw increased by an average of 18.41%. Importantly, it was compared to traffic on all weekends in July this year. The largest change was recorded on Francuska Street – an increase in traffic by 68.66%, Poznańska Street – an increase by 38.57%, Elektrownia Powiśle – an increase by 22.7% and Fabryka Norblin – an increase by 17.97%.

– Taylor Swift concerts are a phenomenon on a global scale. As in most cases, such an event has a strong impact on the local market, including the gastronomic market. (…) It can be seen that the venues in the immediate vicinity of the National Stadium enjoyed the greatest increases in traffic, but residents of the capital and tourists were eager to move to other restaurant areas, which have been fashionable and well-known on the map of Warsaw for years – commented Tomasz Władziński, co-founder of dataplace.ai, in an interview with dlahandlu.pl.

Where did Taylor Swift fans come from to Warsaw? Details revealed

The largest group of the singer's fans who appeared at the concerts in Warsaw were residents of the Mazovian province – as many as 55 percent of people during one of the three concerts. In second place were residents of the Małopolska province – 10.8 percent, Wielkopolska – 6.9 percent, Lower Silesia – 6.5 percent and Pomerania – 5.2 percent.

The dataplace.ai study also showed from which cities and counties the concert attendees came. Warsaw accounted for 41.56% of the people, Kraków – 8.31%, Wrocław – 4.97%, Poznań County – 4.61%, Wołomin County – 2.70%, Gdańsk – 2.68%.
