A camera observing the stork nest in the Czerwieńsk commune in the Lubuskie voivodship captured the skirmish between the birds. The newly arrived stork tried to take over the nest of these birds inhabited for years. We received the recording of the clash on Kontakt24 from one of our readers.
With the editors Contact24 Mr. Jarek from Płoty in the commune of Czerwieńsk (Lubuskie Voivodeship) contacted. For years, he has been documenting the life of a stork couple living in a nest that is on his property. In recent days, the camera has registered an interesting scene. The unknown stork, which appeared unexpectedly, destroyed the first egg laid this year by female. However, the intruder was quickly chased away by a Zigzag male.
– Our pair of storks already had the first egg, but another appeared on the nest. There was a stir. The intruder came up as stormdestroyed the egg and tried to take over the place and the female. Zigzak chased him after a short fight – reported Mr. Jarek.
“The couple in total raised nine offspring”
The history of the stork nest in the fences began about 10 years ago, when the inhabitants together raised funds for a pole under the nest, and then built them together.
– After three years the first stork arrived. From that moment it went briskly. For several years, young stork has been ringed by ornithologists cooperating with residents. Our pair in total raised nine offspring. We are not sure that Lalina and Zigzag are exactly the same couple, but storks usually return to the same place. If they had no wedding rings, they would probably be unrecognizable. We are all fried – he explained.
Storks have names selected by children from nearby villages in an annual competition organized by residents. The prizes are books about birds and binoculars. – In this way we want to encourage children to learn about nature and learn to observe it. We are involved together. Now the inhabitants are waiting for another egg – he commented.
However, the activities of the local community do not end with stork.
– We also observe other birds, such as white -tailed mazurkas. We conduct feeding, we hang feeders. All this to save our nature – he added.
