The initiation of the investigation is the aftermath of media reports that Nawrocki as the director of the museum for over half a year used the Deluxe apartment in the museum hotel complex, although he lives barely 5 km from him, and did not pay for his stay. According to the information provided by “GW” by the current management of the institution, in total, in 2018-2020 Nawrocki reserved 19 stays in the hotel complex belonging to the museum, and in the period 2020-2021-182, i.e. 201 days together, including 197 in the apartment.

Nawrocki's translation and MIIWŚ answers

In mid -January Nawrocki at a press conference said that as the director of Miiwś during a pandemic Covid-19 He spent a 10-day quarantine twice in the apartment, performing his duties remotely. He stated that it was not true that he lived there for 200 days, the apartment was reserved for so many days in his name. In addition, he noted that this apartment also served “for official meetings with guests from abroad and from the country.”

As he said, apartments and rooms at the Museum of World War II were built by his predecessor as the director of the institution prof. Paweł Machcewicz. He added that when he became the director of the facility, he commercialized these properties to bring income through tourist rental.

The current management of the museum, i.e. the director of prof. Rafał Wnuk and his deputy dr Janusz Marszalec at the beginning of February this year. In the issued statement, they denied that the apartments and guest rooms located in the museum building were created as flats intended for the previous management. – Neither the director of prof. Paweł Machcewicz (co -creator and former director of the museum), nor any of his deputies even spent even days in these rooms – it was reported.

According to the current authorities, the museum is also not true that it was Nawrocki who decided to share the apartments and rooms for commercial purposes – for rent they were planned at the design stage of the museum building. In the statement, the museum authorities emphasized that the profits from their rental were to supply the institution's budget and reduce the costs of organized events by providing rooms with guests (speakers, historians, artists, museums).

“It is also not true that throughout the entire period of Pandemic Apartments and rooms in the Museum building remained excluded from use. In accordance with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of March 31, 2020 on establishing specific restrictions, orders and prohibitions in connection with the occurrence of the state of the epidemic, the total closure of the hotels took place on April 1, 2020, and from May 5, 2020, they could take the guests again. The total closure lasted 36 days, “it was said.

The museum authorities noticed that the restrictions in conducting hotel activities introduced at the later time were not absolute. Meanwhile – as it was written – Nawrocki blocked the Deluxe apartment for a total of 200 days. Among the 15 reservations he made, 10 ten -day or shorter and five for a period longer than 10 days were recorded.
