As a result of the fire, the club building of the KS Glinianka team, playing matches in the Masovian B-class burned down. The fire consumed the cloakroom, sports equipment and sanitary facilities. “What was a place of joy, training and common passion so far – today is a ruin” – the players wrote.
According to a statement published on the official KS Glinianka profile, the fire began with arson of a portable toilet standing nearby, “from where it spread to the entire object instantly”.
The small brick building housed a cloakroom, showers and a warehouse in which the players stored costumes, balls, goals and other items necessary for training. “All our belongings burned down” – we read in the entry.
Children cannot train
The club representatives said that due to losses, they are not able to conduct training and participate in the competition. The problem of lack of equipment and facilities is not only affected by the first team, but also children training at the KS Glinianka Academy.
“They are young athletes who trained and enthusiastically trained on our pitch. Each of them had their dreams, goals and sports plans that were brutally taken away today” – describe the club representatives. “We can't understand how someone could have committed such a mindless, inhuman act,” they add.
They want to “get back on their feet”, ask for help
KS Glinianka is a small, local club kept by players, trainers and parents training children. It has been around for 30 years. She is strongly associated with the local community and always based on its commitment.
“Unfortunately, this tragedy has exceeded our financial and organizational capabilities,” it was written in a statement. In the further part there is an appeal for help: “Help us get on our feet and rebuild the cloakrooms and sports facilities. Every form of support will be invaluable.”
Players, on one of the online platforms, organized a collection. 97 people paid money until Friday morning, so far nearly PLN 12,000 has been collected.
