55 tons weighs the largest swaying bell in the world, which was created in Rydułtowy in the Śląskie Voivodeship. Vox Patris, i.e. the voice of his father, will resound at the Sanctuary in Brazil. It will take a while before it arrives, because it is to transport such a colossus is a gigantic challenge.

Bronze bronze colossus Vox Patris, i.e. the voice of the father, is the largest rocked bell in the world. New owners officially received it in Rydułtowy in Upper Silesia. The bell will go to the sanctuary of God the Eaters of the Father in Trindade in Brazilian state of Goias. The construction of a new temple is underway, which is to accommodate 12,000 faithful.

– It will be the largest church in the world. Our sanctuary is already visited by over 4 million pilgrims a year. Such a great temple cannot have small bells, which is why we ordered the father's voice – says Father Marco Aurelio from the Sanctuary in Trindade.

The bell is 4 meters high, his heart weighs over one and a half tons, and he himself 55 tons, as much as the Leopard 2 tank. The father of his father is five times heavier than Wawel Sigismund. He was cast in Krakow by the bells from Przemyśl. The company from Rydułtów provided automation and managed the entire undertaking, where over 200 people worked.

– Each detail in this project was a great challenge and at every stage you had to think carefully and collect a team to analyze if there are any threats somewhere – says Grzegorz Klyszcz, general contractor of the bell from Rwuch Bells & Clocks.

Work on the bell began 11 years ago

Contractors reached for technologies from the Middle Ages, but also used the latest achievements of science. Core with a fake bell applied. A professor from the Department of Foundry of the Silesian University of Technology was involved in the work. – It is not easy to postpone many years of knowledge and many years of experience of bells from bells from even a few or a dozen or so nasty for such a large bell. Everything changes – admits dr hab. Dariusz Bartocha from the Silesian University of Technology.

The concrete form had to be specially reinforced. In the steelworks you had to dig a huge bottom and cover the cast for several months so that heated to over a thousand degrees of copper and tin stops could slowly cool down.

– This sound does not hurt in the ears, but it pierces the whole body more as such as a bass sound. However, when it comes to audibility, then a few, maybe even a dozen or so kilometers, depending on the air – says Artur Rzepczyński, enthusiast of church bells.

Work on the bell began 11 years ago. The first casting failed. – Later, another global problems, i.e. a pandemic, later a war in Ukraine, and this caused that this bell is only now leaving Poland – says Grzegorz Klaszcz.

The world's greatest bell goes a long way. Before him, over a forty -day journey by land and sea to distant Brazil. Although he has not yet arrived and did not start beating, it is already loud about him.
