Keivonn Montreal Woodard became the youngest Emmy nominee in the history of the award. The 10-year-old actor portrayed Sam Burrell in two episodes of HBO Max’s The Last of Us. In total, the hit production collected as many as 24 nominations.

On Wednesday, actress, producer and screenwriter Yvette Nicole Brown and president of the American Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Frank Scherma announced the nominees for this year’s Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Awardsknown more widely as the Emmy Awards.

Despite the lack of previous acting experience and the challenges caused by deafness, the youngest nominee in the 75-year history of the prestigious award was Keivonn Montreal Woodard. His appearance in two episodes of The Last of Us has already garnered critical acclaim. Now the judges of the Emmy Awards also appreciated him, who gave the 10-year-old actor a nomination in the category “Best Guest Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series”.

24 Emmy nominations for “The Last of Us”

In total, the series “The Last of Us” collected as many as 24 nominations for this year’s “television Oscars”, thus becoming, after “Succession”, the second most nominated HBO Max production. The series also made history as the first action-adventure adaptation to ever receive a nomination for the Television Academy Awards.

In addition to Woodard, seven other members of the cast of “The Last of Us” were honored with Emmy nominations. Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman also received nominations for Outstanding Guest Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series for their roles as Frank and Bill in the third episode, and Lamar Johnson for his portrayal of Henry Burrell in two episodes. In the same women’s category, Melanie Lynskey (Kathleen Coghlan), Storm Reid (Riley Abel) and Anna Torv (Theresa ‘Tess’ Servopoulos) were honored. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey were nominated for the best leading roles in the series.

Emmy Awards 2023

The 75th anniversary Primetime Emmy Awards, known more widely as the Emmys, is scheduled for September 18. Due to the Writers Guild of America’s Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike from May 2, the date of the ceremony may change.

The ongoing WGA strike has already meant that the June 16 50th Daytime Emmy Awards – the sister awards to the Primetime Emmys – will be held at a later, unspecified date.
