According to the organizers, up to half a million people – including many people who came from all over Poland – marched through the streets of Warsaw on June 4 in protest against the authorities. On Sunday, June 11, the guests of “Kawa na Ława” on TVN24 discussed the march and the political situation a week after these events.

The march took place in Warsaw on June 4 as an expression – it was emphasized – of opposition to “expensiveness, theft and lies”. The demonstrators were in favor of “free elections and a democratic, European Poland.” According to the organizers, half a million people who came to the capital from many parts of Poland took part in the march.

This event was commented on on Sunday by the guests of Konrad Piasecki – PSL-Polish Coalition MP Urszula Pasławska, Civic Coalition MP Adam Szłapka, Lewica MP Krzysztof Śmiszek, PiS MP Marcin Horała, Libertarian MP Artur Dziambor and Łukasz Rzepecki from the Chancellery of the President .

Adam Szłapka from the KO announced that “the march began on June 4 and will end on October 15”, i.e. when – as expected – the parliamentary elections will be held. – We will not slow down the pace – he announced, reminding about the rally in Poznań, announced for June 16.

– These people saw each other, counted, saw that there are definitely more of us. Such energy, as it was in Warsaw on June 4, will grow. By October 15, she will really lead to what happened in 2007, when it seemed that PiS was going for victory, he noted.

Śmiszek: the success of the entire opposition

Krzysztof Śmiszek from the Left assessed that the march on June 4 “was undoubtedly a success, not only for the party, but for the entire opposition.” It wasn’t a march anymore Donald Tusk or Civic Platform, but it was a march of hundreds of thousands of angry citizens who represented millions who stayed at home and watched what was happening in Warsaw with great interest, he said.

– I would not be afraid of any kind of eating each other, because it is not an art to stir up the opposition pot, take two from one and three from the other and enjoy being a hegemon – he said, referring to the relationship between the opposition parties. – The trick is to convince the unconvinced, those who are still hesitating today, and the most important thing is cooperation – he added.

Pasławska: the march on June 4 was not the last one

Urszula Paslawska z PSL she assessed that “the march on June 4 was not the last one”. – It was a very important element showing that the fundamental values of the rule of law, the constitution and the rule of law are close to us. And that’s very good. But each of us must go our own way today, she said.

She added that cooperation on the opposition “is also needed for the final itself”. – Because it may turn out that although we are striving for ’89, we will have to wait for ’81, because the judges in the Supreme Court, in the chamber that decides on the validity of the elections, are all neo-judges – she pointed out.

The MP mentioned that issues of education should be resolved beyond divisions: psychologists, changes in the core curriculum, free meals and English from the first grade. – We should talk about this today, otherwise we will never get out of this quarrel between the two largest parties, which has been going on for eighteen years – she warned.

Dziambor: there is a very strong need for change

Artur Dziambor from Wolnościowie reminded that government television did not broadcast the march. – If we’re talking about breakups, yes Law and Justice has managed to spoil so much and piss off so many people that there is indeed a very strong need for change – he assessed. – Only this strong need for change must be underpinned by a representation that has specific ideas, specific views and specific solutions, and not just “let’s go together because we’re cool” – he noted.

He added that he did not agree with the postulate to ensure cooperation with the opposition already now. – It is a declaration in which the weaker party submits to the dictates of the stronger party – he argued.

– There should be more such marches, but we do not know what emotions will be in September and October. Holidays reset everything, and in September and October we can meet with an event, with a specific topic that will again divide Poles – he said.

Horała: The effects of the march? Eating appetizers

Marcin Horała from PiS admitted that “it was a very big march”. – What are the effects? Eating appetizers in the form of PSL, Hołownia and Lewica, especially the concept of the “third way”? What third way? There is one way. Tusk, he argued.

– Who fell in polls? It’s not PiS. It fell to the same parties: Hołownia, PSL and Lewica. It is true that the PO is gaining on an ongoing basis, it is becoming a hegemon on the side of the opposition. In the long run, the Confederation will also benefit, because it will become the only option that does not want to support PiS, but they also do not want to support the PO, he predicted.

In his opinion, his party, PiS, will also benefit from this. – Because it puts the matter honestly: the choice is Law and Justice or the return of Donald Tusk’s rule – he declared. In this case, as he mentioned, “someone who has relatively conservative views would like to support PSL, but sees that he will de facto have to support Donald Tusk assuming universal abortion, LGBT and so on.”

Rzepecki: Tusk leads to a situation where there will be only one option in the opposition

Łukasz Rzepecki from the Chancellery of the President stated that “on the one hand, you can be happy that there is democracy, and democracy is doing great.” – But on the other hand, we see this reluctance, aggression towards the president Andrzej Dudatowards the rulers. This is not how you should march, this is not how you should articulate your demands, he said.

As he added, Donald Tusk “leads to a situation where there will be only one option of the united opposition”. – And all groups that are smaller groups on the opposition scene will have a choice: go with Donald Tusk or go with the Confederation or with Law and Justice – he said.
