On Saturday, a meteorite was found in the Drelów commune in the Lublin Province. The space rock flew into the atmosphere and fell to the ground on Tuesday evening. The phenomenon that was recorded on the recording was accompanied by a flare in the sky and a loud bang.
On Tuesday, February 18, after 6pm, heaven over Mazovia, as well as on the Lublin region He lit up the car, a bright meteor. The phenomenon has been registered by Skytinel cameras, tracking this type of objects. On Saturday in the area of the Drelów commune, between Biała Podlaska and Międzyrzecz Podlasie in the Lubelskie Voivodeship managed to find what was not burned in the atmosphere – a meteorite. The find was made by Maksymilian Jakubczak from the Polish Meteorite Society. The space rock weighs about 93 grams and is an ordinary chondryt, i.e. a stone meteorite.
– Skytinel records the Polish sky every night and records the car phenomena. On February 18, a small rock entered the earthly atmosphere, which was recorded, to calculate its flight trajectory and an area where meteorites could fall. It was enough to go, take some happiness with you in your backpack and succeeded. We walked, looked at the meteorite and managed to find it – Maksymilian Jakubczak said in an interview with tvnmeteo.pl.

Meteorite in the Lublin region. Where could he get?
Through the message on the website, the network reported that the space rock began to be visible when it was at an altitude of 82.5 kilometers. The building was flying over Ostrów Lubelski and rushed north at a speed of up to 13 kilometers per second. It broke up when it was 20 kilometers above the surface. The rock found in the Lublin region may not be the only one – a lot of a few centimeters of meteorite shards could fall over the ground.
“Because meteoroid penetrated deep into our atmosphere and moved at supersonic speed, caused the phenomenon of sound thunder, which was heard by residents of the Lubartów and Parczew poviats. Some bang reports also come from a Biała Podlasie Biała Podlasie, 30 kilometers away,”
As added, the car came from the belt planetoid Between Mars and Jupiter and the sun circulated in just over 2.5 years.
The announcement also reported that activities are underway to develop a rock flight simulation. In this way, it will be possible to estimate where other fragments can be located.
