The Minister of Culture appointed a plenipotentiary for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising

“The Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Piotr Gliński, appointed Jan Edmund Kowalski as the plenipotentiary for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, which we will celebrate on August 1, 2024.” – reported on the website of the ministry.

The tasks of the representative will include, among others: cooperation with non-governmental organizations and local government units in the implementation of projects related to the celebration, as well as organizing cultural events commemorating the anniversary.

“The service of the plenipotentiary who will represent the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the field of activities related to the organization of cultural events commemorating the anniversary will be provided by the Independent Bureau” – the ministry’s website stated on Tuesday.

In the years 2012-2017, Jan Edmund Kowalski headed the Communication and Promotion Department of the National Center for Culture, where he was responsible for shaping the image of the institution and promotional support for own and NCK-supported projects.

In 2017-2021, he was the director of the Office of the Independent Program – a state cultural institution responsible for coordinating the celebration of the centenary of Poland regaining independence and the reconstruction of Polish statehood through the implementation of the Multiannual Independent Program for 2017-2022.

Currently – as added – Kowalski performs the function President of the Saski Palace company.
