The Ministry of National Education announced on Sunday on the X platform that it has created a special e-mail address to improve contact with people who want to report comments, observations and problems in the functioning of the Institute for the Development of the Polish Language. “The activities of the St. Maksymilian Maria Kolbe Institute for the Development of the Polish Language are being verified. More and more people are contacting the Ministry of National Education to provide information on the work of the institute in recent years, including any irregularities,” he said on Sunday. platform X Ministry of Education.

To improve communication with interested people, a special e-mail address has been created: Signalista.kolbe@men.gov.pl for reporting comments, observations and problems in the functioning of the Institute for the Development of the Polish Language.

Institute for the Development of the Polish Language Saint Maksymilian Maria Kolbe was established by the Act of October 2022 to support the development of the Polish language abroad. Pursuant to the Act, the institute may establish and finance scholarships for people belonging to the Polish diaspora, Poles living abroad and for people without Polish origin. The Act also provides for the possibility for the Institute to support projects supporting the development of the Polish language abroad in the form of a targeted subsidy to finance or co-finance the implementation of specific tasks.

Deputy Minister of Education Joanna Mucha, on Tuesday, presented the first conclusions from the audit at the Institute for the Development of the Polish Language at a press conference. Millions for PiS-related organizations

She presented several examples. She stated that, among other things, Foundation Aid to Poles in the East named after Jan Olszewski received a total of PLN 9.5 million, the Freedom and Democracy Foundation received a total of PLN 9.5 million, the Parafiada Association received a total of PLN 9.5 million. Saint Józef Kalasancjusz – almost PLN 1 million, Monastery Association Węgrów Center for Dialogue of Cultures – almost 850 thousand PLN, KUL Development Foundation – PLN 881,000. PLN, Scientific Society of the Catholic University of Lublin – over PLN 1.5 million. – All these (…) foundations, organizations and associations (…) are absolutely unambiguously associated with the Law and Justice community – said the deputy minister.

She said that the information obtained from the whistleblowers showed, among other things, that there were irregularities in the allocation of money and the conduct of competitions (the competitions were designed in such a way that they did not specify the method of settling the awarded funds), the competition commissions did not keep minutes of the meetings and did not verify project cost estimates. Mucha said that she also received information from whistleblowers about backdating documents, fictitious employment at the Institute, and “exorbitant amounts” for business trips. She pointed out that no scholarship competition was organized, although the institute was obliged to do so by law and regulation. The deputy minister informed about the initiation by MEN control of the Kolbe Institute’s projects, preparation of applications for NIK for its control and for the retention of money transferred to this institute.
