The National Bank of Poland issued a new coin. It depicts the Castle in Łañcut

New coin in circulation: The National Bank of Poland introduced a commemorative coin with a face value of PLN 5 as part of the “Discover Poland” series. It has a decorative reverse with an image of the castle in Łańcut. NBP informs that “the coin was issued in a mintage of up to 1,000,000 pieces and can be exchanged at its nominal value in all NBP Regional Branches.” It was broadcast in the so-called circulation standard, which means that you can pay with it normally.

“Discover Poland” series: This is a series of coins with a commemorative image with a face value of PLN 5, issued since 2014, issued by the National Bank of Poland. It replaced the series of 2-zloty coins issued in 1995-2014. These coins commemorate anniversaries, events or places important from the point of view of Polish culture, science and tradition. The coins already issued include, among others: St. Mary's Church in Krakow and the Shipping Canal through the Vistula Spit.

Castle in Łańcut it was built in 1629-1642. Polish nobility history took place here. For over three centuries it remained in the hands of the Lubomirski family, and then their heirs, the Potocki family. Cultural and public life developed there. Over the centuries, it hosted numerous guests, including Polish kings.

What does the Castle in Łańcut look like? “The castle interiors are distinguished by the richness of styles and architectural craftsmanship of individual apartments, halls and rooms, rich in original decorations: baroque, rococo, classicist and later, designed by outstanding Polish and foreign architects and decorators,” writes NBP. Over time, the Łańcut castle and its historic surroundings were transformed into a museum that can now be visited.
