In the 2021 murder of Dutch investigative journalist Peter R. de Vries, there is a new witness whose testimony will most likely lead to a postponement of the sentence and the reopening of the investigation, says RTL Nieuws. The Dutchman, Delano G., and the Pole, Kamil E., are accused of killing de Vries. According to the Dutch services, the murder was ordered by a Polish citizen, Krystian M.
This crime shocked the Netherlands. On July 6, 2021, Peter R. de Vries was shot shortly after leaving the RTL4 television studio in Amsterdam. He died on July 15 in the hospital. The popular reporter was known for his uncompromising material about the Dutch crime world. He often commented on high-profile criminal trials in the media and – as assessed – has long been the target of criminal groups operating in the Netherlands.
A trial is underway in a court in Amsterdam suspects of committing the crime. One of the accused is a Pole, Kamil E., who was supposed to drive a car while moving away from the scene of the attack. The second is the Dutchman Delano G., who was supposed to pull the trigger.
The prosecutor’s office demands life imprisonment for both accused. As announced, the court in Amsterdam was to issue a verdict next Thursday, July 14. This may change, however, because – according to the RTL Nieuws portal – a new witness appeared who revealed additional information related to the case to the prosecutor’s office. He was to convey, inter alia, that the killers were offered 150,000. euros for the killing of de Vries, and preparations for the crime began in May 2021.
“They followed him, took pictures of him, waited for a convenient moment to kill him” – this is how the portal reports the testimony of “witness 5089”, as he is referred to in the prosecutor’s office’s documents. His testimony is also supposed to shed new light on Delano G.’s role in the murder. As he claims, originally it was Kamil E. who was supposed to shoot the journalist.
According to investigators the murder was ordered by a Polish citizen Krystian M., who is also suspected of the attempted murder of another Dutchman in October 2021.
