The new president of PFR has been elected. There is a decision of the supervisory board. Who is Piotr Matczuk

Piotr Matczuk will become the new president of the Polish Development Fund, the company announced on Wednesday. Recruitment for this position has been ongoing since December last year.

The Supervisory Board of the Polish Development Fund, after conducting the qualification procedure, elected the management board for a new five-year term of office. Piotr Matczuk became the new president. Mariusz Jaszczyk will be the vice-president of the management board for finance and development. In turn, Mikołaj Raczyński will take up the position of vice-president for investments.

The supervisory board ended the procedure for the position of vice president for development programs without a resolution.

“The new term of office of the management board will begin on the day following the date of the Ordinary General Meeting of the Company approving the financial statements of PFR for the financial year 2023,” the announcement said.

Who is Piotr Matczuk?

As we read on the PFR website, Piotr Matczuk is an economist and manager with 17 years of professional experience, including 10 years of experience in international development institutions.

In the years 2017-2024, he was a representative of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – an agency of the World Bank Group in Poland, where he was responsible for the implementation of the IFC strategy, investment and consulting projects, business development and relations with public and private partners.

Before joining IFC, he supervised the implementation of strategic projects at PKP Intercity. In 2011-2014, he was an advisor on the supervisory board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In the years 2008-2011 he held the position of financial market analyst at the National Bank of Poland.

He is a graduate of economic studies at the Warsaw School of Economics and the sustainable corporations program at Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.

Mariusz Jaszczyk is a manager with several years of experience in corporate finance management and accounting. He gained professional experience in consulting companies KPMG, EY, financial institutions – the PKO BP Group and the Polish Development Fund Group, as well as at Telematics Technologies.

Mikołaj Raczyński is an expert in financial markets, asset management, manager and economist. Since February 2023, he has been associated with Portu – the investment platform of the Wood & Co. brokerage house. as chief investment officer and head of Port Poland.

Previously, in the years 2013-2022, he worked for Noble Funds TFI, where he held the positions of fund manager, director of the fund management department and member of the management board responsible for making investment decisions.

Steeplechase competition for president

From May 1, 2016, Paweł Borys was the president of PFR. In November 2023, Borys announced that he was resigning from managing the Fund at the end of the term of office of the PFR management board, i.e. at the end of 2023. He also announced that he would step down from the position of head of the supervisory board of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.

No one entered the first competition, announced in December before the change of government. The next competition was announced only in March this year and was extended twice. In April, the composition of the supervisory board of the Polish Development Fund was also changed. According to the findings of “Puls Biznesu”, 70 candidates took part in the competition.
