Over 6,000 German companies operate in Poland, and 1,800 are present in Germany Polish business entities – I'm writing Viktoria Grossmann in her report from the conference of German chambers of commerce in Europe, which took place in Warsaw this year. Material titled “German companies love Poland” appeared in the weekend edition of the daily “Sueddeutsche Zeitung”.
The author quotes the opinion of Udo Philipp, Secretary of State in the German Ministry of Economy, that Polish-German cooperation ensures growing prosperity for both societies. – Digitization, decarbonization and diversification are three topics on which Poland and Germany should focus together – noted his Polish counterpart Ignacy Niemczycki.
Polish employees – good professionals
Grossmann emphasizes that German companies are valued by Polish employees as good employers. Among the outstanding ones is the Bosch concern, which produces braking systems, engines and household appliances in Poland. Bosch is building a heat pump factory in Silesia. The author points out that German companies can count on well-educated staff, and the situation in Poland is better in this respect than in Germany.
– On the Polish side it is said that the goal is to equalize the level earnings to the German level, but lower production costs are an important advantage of Poland as a place of production – we read in “Sueddeutsche Zeitung”.
Negative effects of border controls
Grossmann points out that the Polish economy has coped “relatively well” with both the pandemic and the crisis caused by the war Russia with Ukraine. Compared to Germany the degree of digitization in Poland is much lower than in Germany – the author quotes Renata Kabas-Komorniczak, a representative of the consulting company Roedli & Partner. However, Poland is strong in terms of protection against cyberattacks. Germany is one of the countries that loses the most money due to cyberattacks.
Reinforced controls at Germany's borders worry transport companies, writes Grossmann, adding that the Prime Minister of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, who was in Poland these days, confirmed his support for the controls. The Prime Minister assured that the authorities of Saxony, which borders Poland, are doing a lot to limit the negative effects of these controls.
