Aesthetic gynecology is not a whim or a curiosity. For many women, it is a real improvement in the comfort of life. It is a kind of plastic surgery, but gynecological. Often necessary after a difficult childbirth.

Mrs. Agata Nowa leads a very active lifestyle: she rides horses and bikes. She also goes to the gym very often. Before the procedure, however, her activities were often associated with great physical discomfort. Various abrasions and swelling appeared. Finally, she decided to do something about it. – I had correction of the labia minora and it improved my mood a little – she informs.

The surgery improved not only my mood. – Now, after the procedure, I feel much more confident. I no longer have any of the ailments that bothered me before. I am very happy with how it all looks after healing – says Agata Nowa.

In Poland, for a dozen or so years, the number of women who, like Mrs. Agata, decide to use aesthetic gynaecology has been growing. For various reasons, because discomfort in intimate areas can be caused not only by physical exertion, but also by difficult childbirth or hormonal changes accompanying the menopause.

“The 21st century is the century of women”

– Women rule. I am proud of women, because in my opinion the 21st century is the century of women. Women show what they want, and they have the right to it, and they demand it, and it's great. They name many things, once it was a taboo subject. The issue of orgasm, the issue of pleasure in sexual life – comments Dr. Rafał Kuźlik, obstetrician gynecologist from the Polish Society of Plastic Gynecology.

It is also a matter of simple comfort of life. For example, psychologist Aleksandra Sarna from Katowice decided to improve the condition of her tissues, weakened by the birth of a large, four-kilogram child.

– I also have years of extreme obesity behind me and this also causes the vaginal tissues to sag. What I really wanted to fix was what my lifestyle and childbirth had destroyed, so the main scope was vaginoplasty – says Aleksandra Sarna.

It is no wonder that the number of clinics offering such procedures is growing rapidly. There are already at least three medical societies in Poland specializing in this field, and in a few days an international congress of plastic gynecology will be held in Warsaw.

– Due to the multitude of techniques, new technologies, energy-based devices, autologous therapies, plasma, stem cells, so much is being done that one gynecologist who deals with gynecology and obstetrics and operates on fibroids, is in the delivery room, and is unable to handle it all – comments Dr. Piotr Kolczewski, an obstetrician-gynecologist from the Polish Society of Plastic Gynecology.

The National Health Fund does not reimburse aesthetic gynecology procedures. However, patients with urinary incontinence problems can count on financial support from the public payer.
