The president said that he had decided to entrust the mission of forming a government to Mateusz Morawiecki. Foreign media write about subsequent weeks of political instability and ignoring the declarations of opposition parties. The opposition says that Andrzej Duda is, on the one hand, implementing the will of the PiS leadership, and on the other hand, he is playing to his advantage.
More than four million more voters voted for the democratic opposition parties than for PiS, which declared the formation of a new government. Among them were voters from Jagodno in Wrocław who stood in line until 3 a.m. to vote. – You won this election. (…) You will indicate those who will rule in Poland in the coming years. The mandate of these people will be your will, said PO leader Donald Tusk. When Donald Tusk finished the meeting in Wrocław, it was already clear that the president had not respected the will of the majority of voters, and – as almost always – during his presidency, he sided with PiS. – He is the true son of the party’s mother – comments Piotr Zgorzelski, PSL MP.
– Democratic choice must be respected. Poles decided that Law and Justice wins, emphasizes Michał Wójcik from Sovereign Poland. PiS won the elections, but the will of the majority should not continue to govern. For now, neither PiS nor the president accept this information from the sovereign they like to refer to. At the same time, Andrzej Duda praises the high turnout. – He played only on behalf of his camp, raising his hand against the citizens’ verdict – says Paulina Hennig-Kloska, MP from Poland 2050. Citizens are patient. This attitude gives the democratic opposition and Donald Tusk the comfort of creating a new government, even against the president’s will.

Does Duda want to replace Kaczyński?
During the campaign, the president was strongly involved in supporting PiS, as well as in an attempt to eliminate Donald Tusk from politics by signing Lex Tusk. – Kaczyński and Morawiecki play hand in hand with Duda. They are extending the growing season of PiS in order to steal the most important state institutions at the end. Perhaps you can still earn something. It’s about the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, it’s about the Supreme Court – says Krzysztof Gawkowski, MP of the New Left. Unexpectedly, the president decided to change the rules of the Supreme Court and reduce the number of judges required to adopt a resolution. – So that by reducing the quorum in individual chambers, judges who were appointed to the Supreme Court in a faulty procedure would regain the ability to adjudicate and bind other judges with the resolutions – emphasizes Jarosław Matras, judge of the Supreme Court.
The so-called neojudges – without the participation of legally elected judges – could make decisions binding on the entire Supreme Court. – For me, the goal is obvious. So that neo-judges can make decisions, even in their own case. In particular, change the content of the resolution of the three chambers of the Supreme Court – adds Dr. Wojciech Górowski from the Department of Criminal Law at the Jagiellonian University. This is a decision recognizing that neo-judges do not ensure the right to an independent court. If the regulations were changed – which has not been possible so far – the neo-judges could recognize in a resolution that they are legal judges.
Judge Włodzimierz Wróbel asks directly – “how many more attempts to legalize the lawlessness that have taken place in recent years can we still expect?” The opposition is convinced that many people do, because the president is playing his own game here. – The president is thinking about replacing Kaczyński in the future – notes Cezary Tomczyk, PO MP. The president ends his second term in a year and a half. – Seeing that he has no chance for an international career after the end of his term, that he has no chance of becoming a statesman after the end of his term, he is trying to get back to his mother, the Law and Justice party – notes Krzysztof Śmiszek, MP from the New Left. – He is ready to take over the reins of Law and Justice after Jarosław Kaczyński, and that is what he will strive for. For this he needs to eliminate Mateusz Morawiecki – emphasizes Bogdan Klich, PO MP. It was the head of Andrzej Duda’s cabinet who said publicly that Jarosław Kaczyński should retire.
