Pavel Rubtsov, who he was operating under a false name as Pablo Gonzalez, had two passports – Russian and Spanish. The man had been spying on Russian opposition circles for years. The US authorities submitted a request for the spy's release this year, and the operation – as Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, said – was carried out “in compliance with Polish law”.
