Głogów is preparing for the peak of the flood wave on the Odra. More areas have been declared a natural disaster. A bus accident involving a football team. Here are five things you should know on Sunday, September 22.
1. Głogów is preparing for the peak of the wave
Prime minister Donald Tusk took part in the crisis headquarters in Głogów (Lower Silesia) on Saturday evening. Opening the meeting, he said that “a serious threat may appear in the vicinity of Głogów, not in the city itself”.
According to IMG-PIB, the peak of the flood wave on the Odra will reach Głogów on Sunday at around 2 p.m. It was added that the alarm level may be exceeded by about 2.5 meters, and the height of the peak wave may reach 695-705 cm.
2. More areas affected by the state of natural disaster
A regulation was published in the Journal of Laws on Saturday expanding the areas covered by the state of natural disaster due to floods. Several areas from the Lower Silesian and Lubuskie provinces were added.
According to the new regulations, the state of natural disaster has been extended to include: Lower Silesian Voivodeship: about the Zgorzelec district, the Oława urban commune and the Oława rural commune in the Oława district, the Kąty Wrocławskie commune and the Sobótka commune in the Wrocław district. In the title of the regulation and its provisions, a new voivodeship was also added – Lubuskie. In Lubusz Voivodeship this concerns the urban-rural commune of Szprotawa, the city of Żagań, the city of Małomice and the rural commune of Żagań in Żagań county.
3. Bus accident with football team
Two people are dead and 17 injured after a bus accident in Lechów near Opatów (Świętokrzyskie Province) on national road 74. According to the police, the bus was carrying a football team from Ożarów.
4. The great loss of the Russians
As a result of the attack by Ukrainian forces on a military warehouse in the Tver region, the Russian army lost two to three months of ammunition, Ants Kiviselg, head of the Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center, assessed, as quoted by public broadcaster ERR. 5. Wąsk's first victory
