A Scandinavian Airlines plane flying from Stockholm to Miami suffered severe turbulence above Greenland. This resulted in an emergency shutdown of one of the plane's engines, CNN reported.

Panic broke out on board. After a while, the pilots managed to level out the flight and start the engineand the passengers began to calm down. None of the 254 people on board reported serious injuries. However, as the portal added, many of them were bruised.

After the crisis was resolved, passengers began to demand that the plane landed at the nearest airport. However, the pilots decided to return to Europe.

Then arguments began on board. The travelers did not hide their outrage. “We have about 20 minutes to the nearest airport in Canadawe have just over an hour to American soil, and the pilot says that the plane is damaged and we have to turn back,” one of the passengers wrote on social media.

“I have never been involved in such a horror. I am very disappointed with the SAS order risking the lives of so many people for money,” wrote another participant in the ill-fated flight.

He added that they would have a “five-hour flight to Copenhagen because SAS does not want to spend money on sending someone who can repair the plane in the US.”

The airline responded to the passengers' allegations and provided an explanation for the decision. “Because SAS does not have appropriate equipment and staff to conduct this level of inspection in Miami, we decided redirect the plane to Copenhagenwhere both hangars and qualified technicians were available,” it was written.

“Flighting to Miami would result in the aircraft being grounded for an extended period of time, leading to numerous cancellations,” the statement explained.

Eventually the plane landed in Copenhagen after 10 hours and six minutes in the airand the passengers were placed in a hotel.
