I don't know where Minister Romanowski is. If this is civil disobedience, I can understand it – said Michał Wójcik from the PiS club in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24, commenting on the search for Romanowski, who was sentenced to temporary arrest. – Hiding it proves only one thing – that the court issued the right decision – said Barbara Dolniak from the Civic Coalition.

Officers are working to determine the whereabouts of Marcin Romanowski. On Tuesday, the police received documents regarding the decision on temporary arrest. The National Prosecutor's Office accuses Romanowski of committing 11 crimes, including participation in an organized criminal group and fixing competitions for money from the Justice Fund.

The case was commented on in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 by Michał Wójcik, acting vice-president of PiS, former deputy minister of justice, and Barbara Dolniak from Nowoczesna, the club of the Civic Coalition.

– I don't know where Minister Romanowski is. I had the opportunity to talk to him a few days ago, but I haven't talked to him now, and I know that the police are looking for him in various places – said Wójcik.

– I read in one of the media that this is an act of civil disobedience. The media wrote it and I said that I can understand him in the situation that he is. And I am also referring to what happened a few years ago, when there were women's marches, for example after the ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal (from 2020, on abortion law – ed.), when politicians competing with us said that it was an act of civil disobedience, Wójcik continued.

“If this is civil disobedience, I can understand it,” he added.

Dolniak: Romanowski's hiding proves only one thing

Barbara Dolniak commented on Wójcik's words.

– What kind of civil obedience are we talking about here, if the court, if the judge issued a ruling ordering temporary arrest? If Mr. Romanowski believes that he is innocent, that pre-trial detention was wrongly imposed on him, and he will complain about the court's decision, how can he hide? – she said.

In her opinion, the former deputy minister of justice “should come to this detention center, be imprisoned, file a complaint against the court's decision, and not hide.” – His concealment proves only one thing – that the court issued the right decision because Mr. Romanowski is obstructing the criminal proceedings – she said.

“We will see what the decision of the National Electoral Commission will be now”

The program guests also commented on the decision of the unrecognized Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court, which accepted PiS's complaint on Wednesday to the decision of the National Electoral Commission to reject the report of this party's election committee for the 2023 elections.

– We will see what the decision of the National Electoral Commission will be now. But please remember that just a moment ago the National Electoral Commission submitted a request to the Supreme Court and the Extraordinary Chamber to exclude all judges of this chamber – said Dolniak

– (PKW – ed.) pointed out, citing the judgments of the Court of Justice (of the European Union – ed.) and the enlarged bench of the Supreme Court, that judges who sit in the Extraordinary Chamber (Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs – ed.) do not they have a guarantee of independence, so they have no guarantee that they will rule independently, she added.

– A very good decision by the Supreme Court judges – commented Michał Wojcik. He added that National Electoral Commission “will have to take this ruling into account.” Referring to the argument that the chamber that issued the decision is questioned by European tribunals, the MP replied: – Constitutional Tribunal issued a judgment a few years ago that the ECtHR (European Court of Human Rights – ed.) has no right to enter the systemic sphere of Polish law.
