– Officers will pay special attention to improper behavior of road users, both drivers and pedestrians. They will also check the way children are transported – the portal reported auto.dziennik.pl Senior Commissioner Robert Opas from the Road Traffic Office of the Police Headquarters. The police action is to last for 29 days. The services will remind drivers to slow down and be especially careful at pedestrian crossings. – There will simply be no concessionary fare for those who ignore the regulations – added Senior Commissioner Opas.

It is worth recalling that the law changed on June 1, 2021, and drivers must also watch out for pedestrians who are just approaching the crossing. The police reported that the highest number of accidents near crossings occur in the autumn and winter in built-up areas.
In the vicinity of pedestrian crossings, the most common offences are: failure to give way to a pedestrian on a pedestrian crossing, overtaking on a crossing, improper reversing and passing. Drivers will pay a fine of PLN 1,500 for overtaking, passing and failing to give way to a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Additionally, they will receive from eight to fifteen penalty points.
What's more, such a case may even end up in court. – In the event of a real threat to the safety of the life and health of a pedestrian, the case may be referred to court, which may order a driving ban – said Senior Superintendent Robert Opas.
