The Police Training System does not provide for training in the transport of service dogs – the MP of the Civic Coalition Katarzyna Piekarska found out. She obtained this information after the intervention on the death of one of the police dogs during the transport to the accommodation base in SuÅ‚kowice.

At the beginning of May Police dogs – lightning and nanson – were transported For several hours to Warsaw. After reaching the place, it turned out that the first of the Dutch shepherds was dead, and the second is in poor condition. The case was dealt with by the prosecutor's office and intervened by the MP of the Civic Coalition Katarzyna Piekarska.
The system does not provide for training
The MP published the answer of the Chief Police Commander Nadinsp. Marek Boronia, in which he indicates that in connection with the death of one of the quadrupeds, preparatory proceedings are conducted regarding the murder of an animal in violation of the regulations.
In addition, “explanatory actions were carried out at the Provincial Police Headquarters in PoznaÅ„”, as a result of which disciplinary proceedings against officers of the Platoon of Dog Guides of the Police Prevention Department in PoznaÅ„ “were carried out.
The Chief Police Commander pointed out that “the police training system does not provide for training in the transport of service dogs”. “I would like to assure you here that activities are implemented to ensure welfare to dogs and service horses in the use of the police,” the commandant emphasized.
Superintendent Marek BoroÅ„ pointed to the need to purchase central specialized vehicles that meet “technical assumptions (…) for transporting service dogs”.
A police dog did not survive transport
On May 9, sub -inspector Iwona LiszczyÅ„ska from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in PoznaÅ„ said that 10 policemen and 10 dogs from the platoon of business dogs of the Police Prevention Department in PoznaÅ„ were sent to Warsaw. One dog did not survive, and the other was “in very bad condition.”

The sub -inspector explained that “the wrong way of transport and insufficient supervision could be wrapped, but the consequences will be said after the proceedings.”
In connection with this event, on the order of the Provincial Police Commander in Poznań, a commission was appointed, which in urgent mode carries out an inspection of all vehicles of the Greater Poland police intended for transporting police animals, in terms of assessing their condition and correct use in service.
