When Kamil Piątkowski left Raków Częstochowa for RB Salzburg for six million euros in 2021, and made his debut in the Polish national team a little earlier, many fans expected that he would be a strength of the team in the future. And although he had a pretty good start in his new team, he gradually lost his place in the squad. He couldn't count on too many minutes, so he went on loan to the Belgian Gent. After returning, he finally started playing, but then he was unexpectedly loaned again, this time to Granada.

The Polish international returned and started playing to meet expectations. “I feel like I'm in a dream”

The 24-year-old disappointed in his new team, which ultimately suffered a relegation. It was therefore clear that the player had to look for an employer. Allegedly, the Las Palmas authorities were closely watching him, but in the end, the transfer did not take place and Piątkowski was forced to return to RB Salzburg. Despite a fairly good preparation period, he lost the competition to Hendry Blank, brought from Borussia Dortmund. However, he was injured in the CL qualifiers against Twente (2:1) and the Pole had to replace him.

Not only did he do very well then, but he also confirmed his form in the next three matches – the rematch with Twente (3:3) and in league with BW Linz (5:1) and LASK Linz (1:0). In the latter, he was one of the best on the pitch, and the Sofascore portal rated his performance at 7.6. The next day, he revealed that he felt like he was in a dream. “It hasn't happened to me for a long time, I play every three days. Last season, I didn't get many chances, and the loan wasn't easy either. But now I'm back and I have the support of the coach,” he said in an interview with “Kronen Zeitung”.

The former Raków defender appreciated Pepijn Lijnders, but did not want to compare him to previous coaches. The most important thing for him is that he can currently play. – I always leave my heart on the pitch. I can't wait for the next match, which will take place… in Poland – he added. Piątkowski was not far from the truth, because on Wednesday his team will face Dynamo Kyiv away, who play their home games matches CL at the stadium Motor Lublin.

– It's not far from my home. So I hope my family will be there with me to support me – he emphasized. Finally, he revealed that his future in Salzburg is still uncertain. – In football you never know. Despite this, my dream would be to stay here. If the coach trusts me, then he really feels happy – he concluded.

It cannot be ruled out that if Piątkowski performs well in the two-game series against Dynamo Kyiv, coach Michał Probierz will consider him for the September training camp of the national team. The defender last played for the team three years ago. ago in the match against San Marino (1:7). He does not remember this match well, however, because he made a mistake in the only goal for the rivals.
