Zagłębie Lubin scored only 19 points in the first part of the top league season and is only one point ahead of the relegation zone. Therefore, we should expect quite decisive moves in the club during the winter break. Some have already been announced.
Zagłębie Lubin is no longer hiding it. He wants to say goodbye to two players
There are many players in the squad with contracts expiring at the end of June 2025. Some of these players are unlikely to be included in the club's long-term plans, as announced on social media.
“We would like to inform you that defenders Bartosz Kopacz and Luis Mata have been given a free hand to look for new clubs during the winter transfer window” – it was announced on Monday, December 30 on the club's official profile on the X website.

32-year-old Kopacz has been playing in the Lower Silesian team since July 2017, with a break for his stay at Lechia Gdańsk (August 2020 – January 2022). He played 182 matches for Zagłębie, scored six goals and made six assists. although even such a long career and the privileges that came with it (he once played with the captain's armband) did not protect him from falling out of favor. Moreover, he played only eight times in the current competition (six times in the Ekstraklasa and twice in the Polish Cup).

The situation of 27-year-old Mata, who has been playing in Lubin since February 2023, is similar. This season, he has made slightly more appearances than Kopacz, 12 (10 in the league and two in PP), but the last one was on October 31. Therefore, it is clear that he has fallen out of favor with coach Marcin Włodarski and there is no reason to count on a radical change in the situation. And since the beginning of his stay in Lower Silesia, he has played 30 matches (zero goals, one assist).
Despite everything, both players should appear at the start of Zagłębie's preparations. This will take place on January 6, and four days later the team will go to a two-week camp in Belek, Turkey. The first match after the winter break will be played on February 1, against Pogoń Szczecin.
