The president of the Institute of National Remembrance, Karol Nawrocki, has been in contact with Patryk Masiak, a former member of the pimping gang, “Rzeczpospolita” reported on Monday. Nawrocki, who according to the daily is being considered by Law and Justice to run for the Presidential Palace, assures that “the only thing he has in common with Masiak is boxing.”

The portal quotes an Instagram post by Patryk Masiak, which appeared at the beginning of August. “Something with the president of the Institute of National Remembrance over a cup of coffee. It's always good to listen to a wise man,” wrote Masiak, a freak fight competitor with the nickname “Wielki Bu”, at the time. He also posted photos from the café garden, where he is sitting with Karol Nawrocki.

“This is not their first meeting recently. In May, Masiak published an entry that even more strongly indicated his intimacy with the president of the IPN,” notes “Rzeczpospolita.” At the time, Masiak stated that “it was hard not to accept the invitation, so since I was in the capital anyway, I dropped in to see how Karol is being managed in this institution.” He also posted a photo with Nawrocki in his office.
According to “Rzeczpospolita”, “the close relationship between the two gentlemen may be surprising, because Masiak is not only an MMA fighter, but also a former criminal“. “He was convicted of kidnapping, he was in a cell for dangerous prisoners, and the prosecutor's office links him to the Tri-City gang of pimps,” the daily recalled.
“Potential PiS candidate”
“Rzeczpospolita” pointed out that Nawrocki is not only the president of the Institute of National Remembrance, but also one of the “potential PiS candidates” for President of Poland.

“At least that's what the candidate list published by the media for weeks suggests. The people with the greatest chance of being nominated, apart from Nawrocki, are usually indicated as PiS MP Zbigniew Bogucki. A few days ago, PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński only said on Radio Maryja that the list of candidates was getting shorter. Nawrocki, however, has already announced that he is ready to run,” reported “Rzeczpospolita”.
Acquaintance at the boxing gym
Nawrocki trained as a boxer in his youth. In an interview with “Rzeczpospolita” he explained that he met “Big Bu” a dozen or so years ago in a boxing gym. – He was always really big and strong, I was a boxer in good shape, so we fought each other several times in a sports formula: officially, in a boxing gym, in the company of many other competitors. We haven't seen each other for many years, so I won't comment on the criminal issues. I have no idea about them – said the president of INP.
Nawrocki assured the daily that he met Masiak by chance at a Lechia Gdańsk match and invited him to Warsaw. He also claimed that he saw nothing wrong with meeting old friends. – Especially since “Big Boo” became a martial arts star during the time we didn't see each other – he added.
He considered suggestions about his unclear relationship with the former gangster absurd – “Rzeczpospolita” emphasizes. – For several years I have been a public figure, tested in many proceedings regarding access to information, including top secret information. I have no idea how one of the hundreds of players I have crossed gloves with could influence my decisions – he announced.
