On Wednesday, the Sejm received a presidential bill defining the framework for cooperation between the president, government and parliament in the context of the Polish presidency of the European Union in 2025. It assumes, among other things, that the Council of Ministers will submit candidates for members of the European Commission or other European bodies to the president.

The project was announced on Tuesday speech by President Andrzej Duda. He said that he would like this initiative to prove that the entire political class can cooperate harmoniously on issues that are most important to Poland.

In his speech, the President reminded that on May 1, 2023, on the anniversary of Poland’s accession to the EU, together with the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki presented three goals of the Polish Presidency: deepening transatlantic cooperation and strengthening relations between the EU and the United States; further enlargement of the EU UkraineMoldova and the Western Balkans, and in the future also other countries aspiring to join the EU, and strengthening Europe’s energy security.

– These are ambitious tasks, and in order to achieve them, close cooperation between the president, the government, and the Sejm and the Senate is needed – he argued.
