A complaint regarding the fees for hand luggage, which was submitted by consumer organizations from twelve countries, was sent to the European Commission. In their opinion, seven low -cost airlines violate EU regulations, demanding additional fees for the transport of luggage with standard dimensions.
“I think we all have experienced fear that our hand luggage will not fit in the sizes of the airlines and we will be charged with additional fees. Today we are taking action against seven airline lines that use consumers and ignore the ruling of the Supreme EU Court, which states that charging fees for hand luggage with reasonable dimensions is unlawful,” she said on its website.
Seven airlines on the list
Organizations associated in BEUC estimated that the airlines: Norwegian, Easyjet, Ryanair, Transavia, Volotea, Vueling and Wizz Air charged unauthorized transport fees from customers hand luggage.
EU standards in this area specify that you can bring luggage on board for free, which “meets reasonable requirements for weight, size and safety”. The EU Court of Justice ruled similarly in 2014. Beuc members decided that the airlines work dishonestly in determining luggage parameters.
