Over 10 kilometers of the second carriageway of the S7 expressway on the Napierki – Mława section have been made available for traffic. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announced that on Friday drivers will gain another 2 kilometers on the Pieńki – Płońsk section: from Pawłów to the Dłużniewo junction.
As of Thursday, S7 drivers have at their disposal two lanes from the border of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Mazowieckie voivodships to the vicinity of Pawłowo before Płońsk. It’s a total of 60 km.
Another kilometers of S7 between Napierki and Płońsk
As reported by Olsztyńska GDDKiA from Friday, this section will be extended by 2 km to the Dłużniewo junction. Another facilitation for drivers will be the elimination of detours taking place so far along collective roads and redirecting the traffic after the Dłużniewo junction to Płońsk to the left lane of the main route.
– These changes in the organization of traffic will facilitate the journey between the Tricity and Warsaw, and drivers will have 62 kilometers of a new road at their disposal in a dual carriageway system and 9 kilometers with traffic on one road. Both roadways will be available in the second half of August, said Karol Głębocki, spokesman of the Olsztyn GDDKiA.
As he noted, making S7 sections available for traffic does not mean the end of works. Movement will follow a temporary organization. The speed limit will be 80 km / h on the dual carriageway and 60 km / h on the single carriageway.
– We will implement the target traffic organization gradually in September and October this year. We appeal to drivers to comply with the applicable traffic organization – he added.
The investment involving the construction of 71 km of the S7 expressway has been divided into four sections: Napierki – Mława (approx. 14 km), Mława – Strzegowo (approx. 21.5 km), Strzegowo – Pieńki (approx. 22 km) and Pieńki – Płońsk ( approx. 13.7 km). The investment is carried out in the Design and Build system. The task of the contractors selected in the tender was, prior to the commencement of construction works, to prepare construction projects and submit applications for a permit for a road investment (ZRID).
Construction work on three sections from Mława to Płońsk began in autumn 2019, while on the Napierki – Mława section in spring 2020. The investment includes the construction of an expressway with a dual carriageway cross-section along with the construction of service roads, renovation of selected local roads, construction of engineering structures and environmental protection devices.
As part of the investment, i.a. 70 engineering structures and 10 nodes: Mława Północ, Mława Wschód, Mława Południe, Żurominek, Strzegowo Północ, Strzegowo Południe, Glinojeck, Pieńki Rzewińskie and Dłużniewo. There are also four Passenger Service Areas (MOP): Pepłowo I, Pepłowo II, Ćwiklinek and Dłużniewo. The road surface will be made of cement concrete and adapted to traffic with a pavement load of 11.5 tons per axis.
The total cost of the investment is PLN 1.6 billion. The contractor of the three sections is the consortium of STRABAG and STRABAG Infrastruktura Południe, which is building the Strzegowo – Pieńki section for PLN 516.2 million, the Pieńki – Płońsk section for PLN 311.7 million, and the Napierki – Mława section for PLN 294.7 million. The contractor for the Mława – Strzegowo section is a consortium of PORR and PORR Bau. The contract value is PLN 446.1 million.
