The sea fog, otherwise known as the influx, appeared on Saturday morning on the Baltic Sea in Gdańsk.
The sea fog arises when the relatively warm and moist air flows over the cooler ground and cools, reaching the dew point.
This morning along the Gdańsk coast, the temperature dropped strongly – up to 2-3 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the surface water temperature of the Gdańsk Gulf was about 12 degrees. Therefore, the air, which from the Gulf of Gdańsk came to the cold ground of the coast, cooled down in the mundane layer and threw excess moisture in the form of small drops of water. This suspension limited visibility to 50-100 meters. At the same time at the Gdańsk Rębiechowo airport, away from the coast, visibility was over 10 kilometers.
