A firefighter-diver who took part in the search for Grzegorz Borys has died. The accident occurred during operations in the water reservoir at Lipowa and Źródło Marii streets in Gdynia. 44-year-old Grzegorz Borys, suspected of murdering his 6-year-old son, has been wanted for thirteen days.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Press officer of the fire brigade in Gdańsk, Brig. Jacek Jakóbczyk reported that during operations in the reservoir at Lipowa and Źródło Marii streets in Gdynia, a diving accident occurred. – The unconscious diver was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Gdynia – he reported around 4 p.m.

The Air Ambulance also intervened on site.

The fact that the firefighter-diver taken to the hospital died was announced on the X platform (formerly Twitter) by Andrzej Bartkowiak, spokesman for the State Fire Service.

The City Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gdańsk announced that the firefighter died in a hospital in Gdynia.

The activities of firefighters-divers from the Specialized Water and Diving Rescue Group were carried out on Wednesday morning at the request of the police.

– At the request of the services, divers once again searched a small lake located on the other side of the Tri-City bypass, i.e. on the opposite side of the route where Grzegorz Borys lived. This is very close to the estate where Borys lived – said TVN24 reporter Adam Krajewski. – This place has been checked many times, but apparently, after a backpack allegedly belonging to Grzegorz Borys was found there yesterday, it was decided to search the lake again – added Krajewski.

The dog lost the trail

Not far from this place, near the wetlands near Mary’s Spring, on Friday, October 20, after the murder, a tracking dog lost the trail of the wanted Grzegorz Borys. According to the first information, this is where the 44-year-old was supposed to escape.

According to the wp.pl portal, on Monday, gendarmerie officers near Mary’s Spring found a backpack with cash that could have belonged to Grzegorz Borys. Officially, both the police and the gendarmerie do not confirm or deny that a new clue has been found.
