PiS politicians accused of contributing to sowing hatred

The Rules, Deputies’ Affairs and Immunities Committee recommended to the Sejm to reject the motions to waive the immunity of all four deputies.

It’s about promoting on Twitter by these deputies the spot “Safe local government” as part of the campaign before the local government elections in 2018. As lawyer Magdalena Spisak said at the meeting of the rules committee, the spot “obviously caused a feeling of hostility, lack of acceptance and anger towards refugees”, and by promoting it in their social media, MPs contributed to sowing hatred.

The author of the subsidiary indictment, Rafał Gaweł, is the founder of the Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior.

A subsidiary indictment may be filed when the law enforcement authorities twice refuse to initiate an investigation or discontinue it. Then the aggrieved person may submit such an application, thus joining the court proceedings and taking on the role of the prosecutor.
