The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kaminski, spoke at the conference about the situation on the border with Belarus. – We are not talking about any refugee movements. We are talking here about mass, illegal migration caused by political reasons, he said. – Among them there are people who pose a threat to the Republic of Poland, including those associated with terrorist organizations, armed formations, and the criminal past – said the director of the national security department, Stanisław Żaryn.
At the Thursday conference, the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, the director of the national security department, Stanisław Żaryn, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard spoke about the situation on the border zone with Belarus.
Minister Mariusz Kamiński said that the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border “is extremely tense”. – There are a number of provocative incidents involving officers of uniformed Belarusian services and mass attempts to break the integrity of our border – he said.
Kamiński on the situation at the border: we are not talking about any refugee movements
– We are dealing with an extremely serious phenomenon. We are not talking about any refugee movements. We are talking here about mass illegal migration caused by political reasons. People who try to cross our border are not endangered in any way in Belarus, they are staying there legally, they are actually invited there by the Lukashenka regime and are used by him as a weapon, as ammunition, solely for political reasons – he assured.
The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration said that the scale of this phenomenon was large. – Since August, we have about 9,400 attempts to illegally cross the Polish border. In the case of 8,200 attempts, it was successfully thwarted by our officers in the border strip. We have around 1,200 irregular migrants apprehended in guarded centers. Many of them have no documents, many have false documents. They are meticulously examined by our services in terms of their real identity, said the minister.
Kamiński then announced that he would show a presentation that “is to make people aware of what phenomenon we are dealing with”. The presentation was presented by Stanisław Żaryn, spokesman for the minister-coordinator of special services.
While discussing the slides shown at the presentation, Stanisław Żaryn described that the services had established “the identity and route of arrival of several hundred illegal immigrants to Poland”. – Two-thirds of the respondents were selected for deep verification due to the threat to security – he said.
– Among them there are people who pose a threat to the Republic of Poland, including those associated with terrorist organizations, armed formations, the criminal past, people smuggling, as well as forgery of documentation – he mentioned. He informed that 20 percent of detained illegal immigrants in Poland have ties to the Russian Federation, and among the detainees there is a person associated with the Islamic State.
