“A group of migrants – young men – in the presence of at least one Belarusian attacked our posts today,” the Ministry of National Defense reported on Sunday. According to the head of the ministry, Mariusz Błaszczak, the situation at the border is becoming more and more tense.

A state of emergency has been in force on the border zone since September 2. Journalists and activists from non-governmental organizations, among others, are not allowed there. All available information comes from the Border Guard and government officials. The state of emergency, initially for 30 days, was extended from October 1 for a further 60 days. According to the government, the migration crisis at the border is caused by the regime of Alyaksandr Lukashenka. Belarus’s actions are called a “hybrid war against Poland”.

“Polish soldiers and Border Guard officers face such situations every day. A group of migrants – young men – attacked our posts today in the presence of at least one Belarusian” – the Ministry of National Defense wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

The Ministry attached a video to the entry, showing branches thrown on the fence and a projection towards the Polish officers.

The head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, commented on the entry. “The situation at the border is more and more tense. Such situations are now almost commonplace. We should all be grateful to our soldiers and Border Guard officers for their service,” the head of the Ministry of National Defense wrote on his Twitter account.

30,000 attempts to cross the border illegally

From the beginning of the year, the Border Guard recorded over 30,000. attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border, of which nearly 17.3 thousand. in October, almost 7.7 thous. in September and over 3.5 thousand. in August.

As previously announced by the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, by the middle of next year, a five-meter-long steel fence with barbed wire and electronic devices will be erected on the border with Belarus.

The dam along the border with Belarus will be built on a length of 180 km in Podlasie. The Bug River is a natural dam in the Lublin region. In total, the dam will be 5.5 meters high. Along the border, motion sensors as well as day and night cameras will be installed.
