The wave of heavy snowfall has been going on in Japan for several weeks. At that time, in many Japanese cities, especially located along the coast of the Japanese Sea, a few hundred centimeters of snow fell. On Monday, Śnieżyce performed, among others, in the city of Aomori, where the snow cover was about five meters. Extreme weather paralyzed traffic and prevented free travel. Local media also informs about fatalities, but they point out that official statistics have not been made available.

The peak of rainfall is over
According to the Japanese meteorological agency, snowfall should weaken. On Tuesday, the temperature is to return to the average or slightly exceed it. In the center of Tokyo and the West Japanese city of Fukuoka there will be 12 degrees Celsius, in the cities of Sendai and Osaka 10 degrees C.
Meteorologists appealed to the inhabitants of the areas where heavy rainfall occurred, because melting snow will pose a threat to avalanches. The agency added that up to Tuesday afternoon in the Kinki region in Western Japan, 15 centimeters of snow may fall.
