The Spanish army sent a new Castor armored personnel carrier to Poland for maneuvers, serving frontline sappers units. The inaugural exercises involving the vehicle are taking place at the training ground in Drawsko Pomorskie.

The new transporters are manufactured at the GDELS-Santa Barbara Sistemas factory in Spain and are based on the ASCOD 2 tracked platform. The vehicle's qualification tests ended in December 2023. “Two Castor vehicles belonging to the 12th Sapper Battalion of the 'Guadarrama' Brigade were sent to Poland for exercises,” the Spanish army said.

Over a thousand soldiers from 12 NATO countries take part in the exercises, which will end on June 22. Apart from Spain and Poland, these are: USA, Germany, Italy, Romania, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Denmark, Belgium, Estonia and Hungary.
