The start of the Polish astronaut into space is an event that will be written on the pages of history – this is what TVN24 experts and journalists say about the upcoming AX -4 mission, who closely follow the preparations for flight from Cape Canaveral. Although the start of Sławosz Uznański -Wiśniewski was shifted in time due to the weather, emotions grow – not only among scientists, but also those who ask themselves: why do we need all this?

The last preparations for the historical flight with the participation of the Polish astronaut – Sławosz Uznański -Wiśniewski are underway in Cape. The start of the AX-4 mission with the Dragon capsule, which will take four astronauts to an international space station, was moved 24 hours due to adverse weather conditions in one of the places of emergency landing. – There are three places designated for an emergency landing and there must be a clean sky for each of these places. And it is in this one of the places too strong wind – explains Hubert Kijek, TVN24 BIS journalist.

Astronauts must start by June 15. – Later they will have to wait a few weeks, because Cape Canaveral is simply a queue for the next starts – indicates Hubert Kijek.

At the moment, crew members are still waiting in quarantine. – It serves primarily that astronauts retain their health, do not catch any virus, no bacteria that could later spread them health during a flight to orbit, and at the same time they could also infect the crew, which is already at the orbital station – says the science popularizer, the author of the blog “with the head in the stars” Karol Wójcicki. – Interestingly, they are not themselves, because in the place where these quarantes are taking place, there are several dozen people really – he adds.

What will the Mission of the Pole consist in?

As Karol Wójcicki indicates, there are people with astronauts in quarantine who deal with their training, and also help in everyday activities, for example, some deal with cooking. Despite the delay, emotions are growing – this is the first flight of a Pole in decades in cosmos. The preparations of Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski lasted many months. The astronaut trained in various centers around the world – in Cologne, Houston, California, Japan and of course in Florida. It happened that he changed the continent every few days. He studied functioning at ISS, conducting scientific research in conditions of microgravity, as well as emergency procedures.

– Sławosz during his interviews repeatedly repeated that the largest part of this training, this training included repetition of emergency procedures just in case. If something bad happened during the start, during the flight, during the return, there are plenty of these different configurations. But also emergency situations at an international space station, i.e. what to do when a fire breaks out – indicates Hubert Kijek.

The crew will conduct over 60 experiments, many of which were developed by Polish universities, institutes and startups. This is a record number of tests for a commercial space flight. – He was extremely busy, and he had to know how to conduct Polish experiments, which he would take with him – says TVN24 BIS journalist.

The experiments include, among others: research on volcanic microglons, tests of scaled radiation detectors, an analysis of the impact of micro -aging on the intestinal microbiome and an experiment with yeast, which implanted the genes of thaws. Although it sounds like a science fiction film script, scientists count on real conclusions regarding the survival of organisms in extreme conditions. – These are experiments prepared by Polish institutes, universities, startups, which are really to provide us with completely new information – indicates Karol Wójcicki.

There will also be tests of modern technologies, such as the brain-computers interface. – The astronaut will receive a special helmet, which I also had the opportunity to test. He'll put him on his head and say the easiest way to say, scientists will read in their thoughts. He will control the computer with his thoughts. Of course, at such a very basic level. But the point is to check if it is possible to control such a computer without using your arms without using your legs – explains Hubert Kijek.

What is all this for?

The question about the sense of investment in space missions returns regularly. However, the interlocutors' response is unambiguous: technologies developed for space return to Earth and serve us every day – from smartphones, through GPS, to modern materials and medical solutions.

– display, a camera that is inside, wireless connectivity standards. All this developed for the needs of space flights and it all goes to thatched roof years. And we are so used to it so much that we do not realize it a bit, thinking that space technology may possibly a rocket or a suit itself – indicates Karol Wójcicki.

The results of experiments conducted on the ISS can translate into the development of many innovative technologies. Research on the brain-combine interface can be used in medicine. Artificial intelligence will also be tested, which in the future could support autonomous decision -making systems – both on Mars and here on earth.

The crew flight was postponed to June 11. On the spot, in the Space Center John F. Kennedy in Florida, there is a TVN24 Bis Hubert Kijek reporter who will report the start of the rocket. Why is it worth watching? – These types of events are enrolled on the pages of history, and it is fun to be witnesses of history. I know that we have a vote of trust and a lot of politics, this policy is with us all the time, while the start of a Pole into space happens once every few dozen years, this cannot be missed – emphasizes Karol Wójcik.
