Grzegorz Schetyna, MP from the Civic Platform, said in “Kropka nad i” that “the state of emergency is the last resort”. Nevertheless, he decided that the Sejm would not decide to reject the presidential regulation on the introduction of a state of emergency in the part of Poland near the border with Belarus. – This is a trap set for the opposition – commented Schetyna.
MP from the Civic Platform and former leader of this party, Grzegorz Schetyna, spoke in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 about a state of emergency in part of the towns of the Podlaskie and Lubelskie voivodeships, the introduction of which was decided on Thursday by President Andrzej Duda in a regulation. The document was published on the same day in the Journal of Laws and thus entered into force. On Monday, the presidential ordinance is to be dealt with by the Sejm, which may repeal it
Speaking about the reasons for the introduction of the state of emergency, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, pointed out that for several weeks “we have been dealing with a deep migration crisis” and recalled that “great military maneuvers” were taking place beyond our eastern border. – We know that on the other side there are extremely emotional people who are ready to take various types of emotional and ill-considered, radical decisions – he noted.
Schetyna on a state of emergency near the border with Belarus
Schetyna stated that because “PiS and Confederation are in favor of introducing a state of emergency, it can be said that it will not be rejected.” – I am a supporter of the guarantees of border security above all – emphasized the former head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration. He assessed that “the state of emergency is the last resort”. Noting that if he votes against the imposition of a state of emergency, he could be called “a Russian or a Belarusian agent”, he replied that “this is a trap set for the opposition.”
– I would just like to ask the President of the Republic of Poland why he did not convene the National Security Council on this matter, why he did not inform the opposition leaders. Why is he deciding to introduce a state of emergency without a debate with the parliamentary opposition – said the PO MP.
