The suspect in the murder in Nowy Świat was charged with murder

The man suspected of killing a 29-year-old on May 8, 2022 in Nowy Świat Street in Warsaw has already been charged with murder. The prosecutor's office asked the court to extend the man's detention.

“On Friday, the suspect was charged with murder combined with assault with a dangerous weapon,” said Piotr Antoni Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.

He said that Dawid M. was unable to determine his position on this matter. “There will be one more interrogation of the suspect in this case,” added prosecutor Skiba. The prosecutor's office asked the court to extend the man's detention.

Extradition from Turkey

“(On Thursday), accompanied by police officers from the Convoy Department of the Prevention Bureau of the Police Headquarters, 26-year-old Dawid M. flew from Turkey to Poland. His detention and extradition are the result of effective international cooperation and great determination and commitment of police officers from the Search and Identification of Persons Department of the Warsaw Police Headquarters. Police,” the capital police reported on Thursday on the X website. “Other units also participated in extradition activities, including the Office for International Cooperation Police Headquarters” – added.

The murder of 29-year-old Maciej took place in the morning on May 8, 2022 in Nowy Świat Street in the center of Warsaw. The police and an ambulance were called to the scene. Despite the efforts of rescuers, the man died. The search for suspects has begun.

The first one was detained on January 30, 2023 (eight months after the incident) Łukasz G. The 29-year-old was known to law enforcement authorities. This is one of the co-suspects in the trial of Krzysztof U., alias Fama, accused of setting fire to the club at ul. Foksal. In June last year, 24-year-old Sebastian W. was arrested.

Dawid M., two days after the murder, got to Turkey using his brother's ID card. On March 14, 2023, he was identified and detained by the Turkish police. Since then, efforts have been made to extradite him to the country.

Sentence for two participants in the fight

In April this year, Łukasz G. and Sebastian W. were sentenced to seven years in prison. The court also ordered compensation of PLN 10,000. A friend of the convicts, Radosław W., who helped one of them hide, was also sentenced to five months of restriction of liberty.

At the beginning of December, the first appeal hearing was held in the appellate court. Łukasz G. and Sebastian W. appealed against the verdict. However, the court did not open the case because one of the convicts was not brought before him. A new date has not been set.
