In the morning at the temporary hospital at the Poznań International Fair, 120 out of 122 beds were occupied. The hospital was full, although its next module was launched just a few days ago. The management has already opened another, with 28 beds, which increased the number of beds to 150. Ultimately, it is possible to admit about 600 patients.

On Thursday morning, the authorities of the temporary hospital at MTP announced that they had only one ventilator bed available. In total, out of 122 places, only two were available.

The situation is so dangerous that the number of people who need a respirator to breathe is systematically growing every day. There were nine on Thursday, seven on Wednesday and six on Tuesday. In total, there are 10 positions with ventilators in the temporary hospital.

During the last day, two patients died, four were discharged, and 12 new patients were admitted.

The temporary hospital at MTP has opened another module

– Today there are only a few free beds and we already know for sure that there is such a demand that we will be opening another 28-bed internist module within a few hours – announced Bartosz Sobański, spokesman for the Temporary Hospital at MTP.

Shortly after 12 noon, the facility announced its opening.

The hospital is looking for doctors, paramedics and nurses

Opening the next hospital modules is not a problem. In April, when the maximum daily hospital occupancy was recorded, there were 324 patients in the hospital. The hospital was then prepared to admit 597 patients.

The challenge is to recruit white personnel. Each module consists of 12 doctors who provide care for 24 hours. – It is especially difficult to recruit doctors, although the modules that we are now launching are already secured – says Sobański.

Qualified lifeguards with professional experience are also wanted to work at MTP. – The problem with the nursing and caring staff is smaller – assesses the spokesman of the Temporary Hospital at MTP.

The hospital staff are helped by students. – We mobilized the students. About 120 students signed up to work in the temporary hospital full-time, and thirty additional for voluntary work – Prof. Andrzej Tykarski, rector of the Medical University in Poznań.

Coronavirus in Greater Poland

1,919 new cases appeared in Greater Poland on Thursday. This is the third highest result in the country. Most of the sick are unvaccinated.

There is a vaccination point at the temporary hospital that can vaccinate up to 5,000 people in a week. – It can be said that the temporary hospital in Poznań is an excellent conglomerate, because the largest vaccination point is located right next to it. So we not only treat, but also prevent, says Dr. med. Szczepan Cofta, Chief Physician of the Clinical Hospital of the Transfiguration of Jesus in Poznań and the temporary hospital at MTP.
