Patients can be evacuated, but the hyperbaric chamber, tomography scanner or resonance cannot be moved to a higher floor. The hospital in Nysa was destroyed by the great flood, but the TVN Foundation will help rebuild it. You can help by making a bank transfer, sending an SMS or BLIK, or watching a special advertising block on Friday after “Fakty”.
The diagnostic imaging laboratory is one of the most important places without which the hospital cannot function. A one-and-a-half-meter wave of water and mud and more was enough to destroy a CT scanner worth one and a half million złoty in a hospital in Nysa. The condition of the second device is identical. Both are suitable for throwing away. However, the most painful loss is the hyperbaric chamber, which was the only one in the entire Opole province. In addition, there is an MRI, several ultrasound devices and an entire diagnostic laboratory.
The rooms, offices and corridors are also destroyed. – This floor looks as if someone threw a grenade. The current here was so strong and so high that it caused damage to the floor and even to the floor reinforcements – says Artur Kamiński, director of the District Hospital in Nysa.

The water that entered the facility quickly cut off the ground floor and the ground floor of the hospital. Patients had to be evacuated through a window. When the wave arrived, there were a hundred patients in the wards. Those most in need were first carried out by firefighters at night, and then transported to ambulances by boat or pontoon.
– We have mastered what is happening. We are without light, without water. Practically the entire pit is flooded, one could say about one and a half meters. A lot of equipment is flooded, we managed to save equipment from the Hospital Emergency Department and the pharmacy – reported Marek Szymkowicz, medical director of the District Hospital in Nysa.
Help for the hospital
But what good is it that the equipment from the Emergency Department was saved if the Hospital Emergency Department itself is devastated after the disaster. That is why the TVN Foundation decided to help.
– The point is to get this hospital back on its feet as soon as possible, because the lack of medical assistance in this area is a direct threat to all residents – emphasizes Zuzanna Lewandowska, president of the TVN Foundation.
The hospital will receive half a million zlotys from the TVN Foundation right away. In addition, all money that is transferred to the Foundation's account from Tuesday until further notice will be transferred to the District Hospital in Nysa. Viewers can also transfer money via text messages and BLIK. Additionally, next Friday after “Fakty” a charity advertising block will be broadcast, the entire income from which will be donated to help the hospital in Nysa.
