Emanuela dreamed of giving concerts all over Europe. “She used to say, ‘You’ll see, one day all the newspapers will write about me,'” recalls her brother Pietro Orlandi. They’ve been writing, and they’ve been writing for 40 years, but not about a music career. The mysterious disappearance of a teenager from the Vatican is a tragedy of an “ordinary” family, disturbing anonymous letters, empty tombs and testimonies of mafiosi. The Vatican, though it has distanced itself from the case for four decades, is now checking “old, dusty documents” that investigators found in the archives behind the Bronze Gate. – There is one thread that no one has explored before. I think that’s a good lead,” Orlandi’s lawyer, Laura Sgrò, tells me.
