Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, “stormed out” from Monday’s UN Security Council meeting when European Council President Charles Michel accused Moscow of fueling the global food crisis by invading Ukraine.
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, spoke at the UN Security Council meeting on Monday. Speaking to a body of 15 people, he spoke, among other things, about the war in Ukraine. – Mr Ambassador of the Russian Federation, let’s be honest, the Kremlin is using food supplies as a hidden bullet against developing countries – he said. He added that “Russia has sole responsibility for this food crisis.”
He also accused Russian troops of war crimes and crimes against humanity, citing in particular reports of sexual violence. It was precisely on this subject that the Security Council meeting focused on. Michel described such actions as “a tactic of torture, terror and repression”.

The Reuters Agency informed that during the speech of the head of the European Council, the permanent representative of Russia to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, “stormed out” from the room. Reuters noted the ambassador was “clearly irritated” and said he “couldn’t stay” because of Michel’s “lies”.
The head of the European Council, on the other hand, addressed Nebenzi directly when he was leaving, saying: – You can leave the room, maybe it is easier not to listen to the truth, dear Ambassador.
