The weather in the Karkonosze Mountains brought heavy downpours

On the Luční bouda Krkonoše profile there is a recording from Saturday, which shows water masses flowing around the Czech mountain hut Lucni BudaIt is located at an altitude of 1,410 meters above sea level, near the border with Poland.

Powerful downpours caused torrents of water to flow around the shelter. There was so much of it that it was unable to flow away quickly enough and formed deep puddles in front of the building. Also on Saturday, the authorities of the Karkonosze National Park decided to close all tourist trails in the Park until further notice.

As reported by the KPN authorities heavy rains led to the flooding of many sections, footbridges and bridgesso crossing them has become dangerous. According to the Park authorities, the risk of mudslides has also increased.

The situation does not improve on Sunday. As we read on the official KPN profile on the X website, the park services, in cooperation with firefighters, are still fighting the effects of the downpours.

“Our services have been on their feet for two days with a short break for a few hours of sleep. Water is washing away mountain roads, destroying equipment. We are trying to limit losses,” we read.

According to forecasts, the downpours in the south of the country will not stop on Sunday, although there may be less of them in the afternoon. However, on the night from Sunday to Monday, we should expect more rainfall.
