Poznań once again hosts the World Wings for Life Run. On May 8, 2022, eight thousand runners will stand on the starting line in the capital of Greater Poland. And the organizers say: – If you want to be one of them – you need to hurry – tickets will probably sell out in a few days.
Registration for the participation in Wings for Life started on Wednesday. – We are returning to the stationary run in Poznań on May 8, 2022 – says Łukasz Stasiak, the ambassador of the run.
The last Wings for Life World Run was held in Poznań in 2019. After two years – due to the COVID-19 disease pandemic – breaks, runners will return to the common starting line.
“Starter packages are coming down the stump”
The competition will start at 11:00 AM. Eight thousand people will be able to start in Poznań. – The run is so popular that all the starting packages go down the stump – points out Stasiak and encourages those interested to sign up for the race as soon as possible.
Those who fail to do this will be able to start on their own, anywhere in the world, running with the application, as was the case during the last two editions of the run.
Back then, everyone was running alone, but the runners still ran into each other in popular runners’ spots. – There is a greeting to the participants of Wings For Life – when we run, we spread our hands like wings. Running two years ago alone in the Kabacki Forest, I passed others, each one ran in his own direction, he could be on the fourth kilometer, I could be on the second, but we participate in the same race and we do the same. It was fantastic meeting these people – emphasizes Stasiak.
A unique run
The participants of the run help at the same time – all income from starting fees and donations is donated to research on spinal cord injury.
But the race is special for another reason – only in Wings For Life is the finish line moving and chasing players. As always, the finish line is performed by the pursuit car – whoever is overtaken ends the competition. – Here the people with the poorest results finish first – explains Stasiak.
In 2022, the run will take place simultaneously in eight locations around the world: in Germany, Japan, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia and Turkey.
