As indicated on Friday by a representative of the World Meteorological Organization, air quality in Europe will deteriorate significantly. It will be related to the heat that is just looming over Europe.
Lorenzo Labrador from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) announced on Friday that the heatwave in Europe will bring with it a noticeable deterioration in air quality. The phenomenon will be especially felt in cities.
Beware of negative health effects
A WMO representative explained that the heat wave would trap atmospheric pollutants near the earth’s surface.
“The stable atmosphere acts as a lid that traps atmospheric pollutants, including particulate matter,” explained Labrador. – Air quality will deteriorate, which can have negative health effects, especially in vulnerable people.
The heat will come next week
As the tvnmeteo.pl presenter Tomasz Wasilewski told on Friday, hot air from the Sahara desert will reach Central Europe next week. So far, it has brought unusual heat in Spain, Portugal and southern France, and in the following days it will also move to the British Isles.
